Getting an Early Start

As many of you know, I have identical twin granddaughters that recently turned 12. What you may not know is that they have been some of my biggest fans regarding my art. Jessica fell in love with this painting of her and Liam at the beach. Every time she came over, she'd ask me for it. I reminded her that she had a birthday coming up but she thought 2 weeks was entirely too long to wait. She had to wait anyway. Thankfully, she still seemed delighted with it!

Sarah had been wanting this painting of a tree that I did while living in Ireland. She first asked me for it just before my first Open Studio Show in Nov, 2018. As she put it, "Gran, if this doesn't sell, I want it after your show."  I told her I'd think about it.  She continued to mention it off and on as time passed. She brought it up again not too long ago, so I decided to give it to her for her birthday as well, thinking that was a fair balance. Both girls were ecstatic, and I was thrilled at their reactions!

I absolutely love how they feel about a lot of my work and I love being able to share it with them. It's so rewarding to me that my work can bring joy into people's lives.

That is wonderful to read! Such a good idea too.

Leila, thank you so much! I love that you enjoyed reading it!  I appreciate your taking the time to comment!

What a legacy you are leaving for them to see... you are teaching them so much by reaching for your dreams and stepping into your gifts and sharing them with the world. I'd be excited too... to have you as my grandmother! Love love love your work, Anne!

Kim, you're so sweet to look at it that way! I don't think about being a role model for them, but I guess I am. Thank you so much for your lovely comments about my work!

Awesome to see how much your granddaughters love your work! A new generation of art appreciators... and lucky collectors at the age of twelve!!

Thank you so much, Theresa! I have to confess, that I love the way they feel about my work, though they are selective about it! (Sarah did tell me the other day that she didn't like one of them that much.)  I kind of like that actually, knowing that they aren't afraid to tell me when they don't like one of them.

It's nice that you're getting honest reviews from your granddaughters... when they say they love a painting, you know they really do!! Also I totally agree with Kim and would be super inspired to have you as a grandmother too!
